Give us a brief bio or background about yourself. Are you originally from the Lake Houston area? Are you a wife or mother?
Hi! My name is Katherine Molina but I like to be called Kathy. I’m a REALTOR® for BHGRE Gary Greene- Lake Houston. I’m originally from Corpus Christi but grew up in good ole East Texas. I’ve lived here in the Houston area since my twenties. I went to San Jacinto College and earned my associate’s Degree in Applied Science and worked in the medical field for over 10 years. I originally wanted to go to school for nursing but God had different plans. I’ve enjoyed the healthcare industry. I’m married with 5 beautiful children, four boys who are all out of the house, and started over with my little girl who is 6. For the past 10 years, I lived in Richmond, Tx and we decided to sell our home to move here to Kingwood. I’m grateful to be affiliated with Kingwood Business Women, The Livable Forest which if you are a perk member you will receive $500 towards closing costs or a Home Warranty, and many other networks here in the area. It’s great to see other women praise and build each other up. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, volunteering at my daughter’s school, swim team, Kings River Kingfish, traveling to new places, and being out on the water.

Did you always know that you’d be in your current industry? Tell us your story of how you arrived at your current success.
Becoming a Realtor has been in my heart and spirit for years. I’ve always wanted to learn more about the industry but family life and unexpected events held me back. I decided to take that next step during the pandemic to take advantage and go to Real Estate School. My husband and I have talked for years about getting into real estate investments and I chose to take that next step so we can be financially stable to do so and also to start getting educated in the business. I finally stepped out and made my dream come true.

Many of us have worked either for another business at some point in our professional careers. How do you go from being an employee to a business owner?
Prior to launching my real estate career, I gained professional experience working for a decade as a Radiology Technologist. I will continue to keep my RT license updated. I love the medical field but it did drain me. I wanted more freedom to structure my schedule around my family and be able to enjoy life to the fullest. Regarding my career switch, being in the medical field shows my heart for people. I treated all my patients like my family just like I will my clients.
A healthy work/life balance is important. What’s your take on it?
Family is everything to me so I think it’s very important to separate those two. Of course, being a Realtor it’s hard sometimes to do that. I’m laughing here because I’m always checking my emails or texts even when I’m out with family. It’s paramount to make time for yourself and your family though. I take my little girl for pedicures, mommy/ daughter time, and out for a treat. My husband and I go on date nights at least twice a month. By doing simple things for yourself you’ll be better at your work life.
